RECURRING FEVER FOR TODDLERS

Assalamu'alaikum.

OMG. I'm back. I have not been here for so long. I've missed you. On my defense, so so so much has happened since my last post. These two months were so stressful for me. I've contemplated whether I should blog about it or not but hey, I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one with these kind of issues here on our small red dot.

Where should I start. I have been staycay-ing quite a bit to blow off some steam. Thank you Wan for being the most understanding person ever. We celebrated Baba's birthday in November and Adam's 2nd birthday in December. I am seriously so thankful for all the love that Adam has been receiving from everyone.

Ok, two months ago, I was all set to start working again after a year or so of being a SAHM. So I sent Adam to a childcare centre a month before I start work. Ok let's rewind a little. I got a job offer in about early October but they can only slot me in December. I was kinda relieved because I thought that I had enough time to see Adam settle down in school before I start work peacefully. That's when everything happened.

We found out that I was expecting. OMG. Happy? Scared? Shocked? Well, mostly grateful but unprepared. Here I am all set for work when this precious little thingy decided to make an entrance. Whatever it is, we still decided that I should continue with the employment due to obvious reasons; money, money and err...money. So that's that.

Now Adam did not cry when we sent him to school on the first day, which I remember clearly was the 1st of November. However, subsequent days were crazy. He started crying at home the moment he sees his uniform. He would ask me while crying, "Mama, Adam go where?" I was pretty sure my heart shattered into pieces on the floor every single morning.

It is very normal for children to fall sick when first entering a new school or in this case, childcare. I've been teaching in that environment for quite a bit and I've seen my fair share of that.  Just as I expected, Adam was down with fever on the second week of school. His fever will always last about 5-6 days or maybe more. So 3rd week of school was spent at home. Thank god I have not started working.

After he was well, we sent him to school. A few days after that, he came home with a bad cough and flu. his coughs are always full of phlegms.  Naturally, the next day, he was down with fever again. It went on like that till the end of December. I had to start work in mid December and on some days I was nursing his fever at night. Which simply means, no sleep. Which means, I was a zombie at work. Luckily Wan could take some time of work to take care of him during the day. On some days, we even had my sister, SIL and MIL to take care of him because both of us couldn't take time off work.

Can you imagine? He has been on medications for two whole months. The most recent doctor visit(btw, we even switched doctors because Adam's condition didn't get any better), we were told to get him an inhaler and spacer because his phlegm is getting from bad to worse. That, for me, was the last straw. Before entering the childcare centre he was perfectly fine. Don't get me wrong. The childcare centre is fine and the teachers are nice but it is air-conditioned and I found out that Adam has sensitive airways(sorry baby, you got that from me). I really didn't want to go to work at the expense of Adam's health. He lost so much weight. His appetite got worse. He didn't even want milk at some point. He cries almost every night in his sleep.

So I really wanted to withdraw him from the childcare. So, I tendered my resignation(I worked for about two weeks) and hoped for the best. Since I couldn't serve my 1 month notice period, I had to pay the company a 1 month's worth of my salary for levy. I did and I walked away with a heavy heart and a much much much much lighter pocket.

It has been a week and so far, there is no recurring fever although his cough and flu still needs attention. Alhamdulillah.

He was still unwell when we brought him for staycay and whatnot and the carpets in the hotel rooms did not help one bit. However, we felt that he needed to get out of the house and get away from all the eating medicine nightmares.

As usual, Agoda app was the easiest for us to book from. Here's some hotels for you to look at for your next staycay;  STAYCAY!!

On top of all that, something else happened during those two months. Something big and stressful for me personally. I will save that for the next post. I'm just rambling here and thank you for reading my rants. Hats off to all mummies out there!

I hear a dog growling somewhere or it might just be the rumbling of my tummy. Either way, I want to stuff my face with rice right now,
Ja
