We are back from Bangkok! The shopping experience was sinful. It was crazy awesome. The things were so cheap that I had to grab them. There were a few setbacks though. I was unfamiliar with the smell of the streets and BTS. I can't describe the smell but it is nothing like Singapore. I guess that added to our list of experiences. Another setback would be the rainfall there. It rained every single day. Although it wasn't crazyy heavy most of the time, it did hinder us in some way. We thought it would be a cheap shopping holiday but because it is the peak season, we ended up spending quite a lot for our flight.
Flight: $640 (2pax)
Accomodation: $240 5D4N (LemonTea Hotel)
Expenses: $800+
Ok. So, for memories sake, I will document my holidays. =)
Our flight was at 10am but we were at the airport by 7.30am. We went to make full use of his airport vouchers. (By purchasing PS3. -_-'') We checked in at the Early check in counter so that I can be selfish and get a seat by the window. We did but we got the seats by the emergency exit.
We decided to fill our stomachs at BK. We ate till we couldn't breathe.
Our flight was delayed for about half and hour because of the haze. To quote the pilot, there was minimum visibility. You could smell the haze from inside the airport. That was how bad the haze was. However, the air was lighter in the transit area. And no, we didn't take SQ, we went with Jetstar.
Once we reach Suvarnabhumi Airport, we were lost. We followed the crowd to the City Line to get to our hotel. After buying drinks and some snacks, we boarded the train to Phaya Thai. Since it was stated that our hotel is near the PhayaThai BTS station, we decided to walk around hoping to find our hotel. We walked quite a distance as the road names were unclear and the roads were crazy scary. Oh ya, and to add on, there were lots of big stray dogs around. After nearly an hour of walking, we found our hotel. It was actually only aboout 15 minutes away from the station. We did find a nearer BTS station though; Ratchatewi Station. So, we traveled to that station instead every other day.
It turned out that our hotel was the best one in the alley. For me, at least. I loved it! The deco and ambience was awesome for a budget hotel. The moment we entered, we were greeted and attended to. you can smell the frangrant smell of lemongrass and lemon tea. There displays of teas all around the small lobby. The smell and condition outside vs inside was such a contrast. The staffs were awesome and efficient.
First thing we did was to serve the channels. There 80 channels available but most were in thai and they had dual sounds. The room was reasonably sized. It was comfortable and clean as well.
After we settled in, it was already around 5pm. So we decided to look for halal restaurants around. We found Mak Yah restaurant. It was around 15 mins away from our hotel. We also found two nice souls (A guy name Faizal and his mum. Coincidentally, they also stay in east side SG ). They shared with us everything they know about Bangkok. They went to th extent of walking us to the shopping malls around the area (Platiuum Fashion mall and Pantip Plaza). We were touched by their kindness. May Allah bless you two for helping us. =)
We had Coconut ice cream and it awesome. Loved it!
We went back around 5pm because we were just too tired. We bought instatnt noodles, snack, big bottle of coke and ice pack from 7eleven. We were flat by the time we reached the hotel.
The next day we decided to go to Siam Station to explore Central world. Turned out, it was walkable distance from our hotel.
We decided to chill the SG style. So, we bought frappes and croissants for ourselves. =)
After chilling at Central world, we went to a nearby muslim coffee shop and packed dinner for ourselves. They have chilli padi packets. How awesome is that?!
On tuesday, we decided to roam around Platinum mall. It is known to be the indoor Chatuchak. It was heaven. You really have to practice self control in order not to burn a hole in your wallet.
And of course, like every other tuesday nights, we bought food and RM-ed. <3
On the last day, we walked along the street which was hosting a Street Food Festival. We discovered 1 halal stall!! Yay!
By 3, we were at the airport for our 7pm flight. We chilled and ate at the food court. But of course, we checked in early so I can get my window seat.
So, Bangkok is done. Alhamdulillah. It's a waste i lost my 'honeymoon' pictures as they were in my crashed laptop. The place was super awesome and I dont know if we can afford to visit that place again. =(
Maybe next time. <3
