He first complained, "Mama, my saliva oww." That means it hurts when he swallows his saliva. He was down with fever too. So I checked his throat and surprise(not) I saw so so many red spots in his mouth. There were ulcers on his tongue, on the roof of his mouth and inside his cheeks. It was so scary. Throughout my 8 years of teaching, I've never seen that many spots and I've seen my fair share of spots over the years. I immediately checked his hands and true enough I saw blisters developing on his fingers. There were red spots(very rashes like) on his armpits and the rest of his body.
We rushed him to Thomson Medical to see his GP. She told us that its rare to have spots all over the body like his. She mentioned that his was quite 'jialat' already. She gave us medication and calamine lotion.
These were his blisters on the second day.
So we gave him his medications and applied calamine lotion religiously. He continued to have high fever for the next three days or so. On the fourth day, he had low grade fever.
Covered in calamine lotion
He kept having new and raw blisters everywhere! His blisters were a nightmare. For us and for him. He didn't want to eat anything. Kept crying everytime because his whole mouth hurts. He can't even talk properly. If any of you guys know Adam, he talks with a lisp so that made it even harder as there were two big ulcers on the tip of his tongue. My heart broke everytime he cried in pain. I felt so helpless.
I had no choice but to put his hands in a bag to prevent him from putting his hands in his mouth.
Now, a week after, his blisters are almost gone. Alhamdulillah. I won't be sending him to school immediately though. We have yet to get clearance from the doctor and there are four other cases in his school so I want to keep him at home this week.
Remember you guys! Wash your hands like there's no tomorrow! Keep them germs away! I did just that to the extend that Adam told me not to waste water. LOL. #preach
Thank you for those who kept us in your prayers. May you be blessed.
Love,
Ja
